Georgia Tech OSHA OTIEC Program Manager (Extension Professional Senior/Principal)

Job Purpose: Serving within the Research Faculty of the Institute, this position directly supports the extension, service, and economic development missions of Georgia Tech to the State of Georgia and beyond. As part of the Georgia Tech Enterprise Innovation Institute (EI2), primary functions of this role include teaching, course curriculum design, business development, and overall program management for the Georgia Tech Occupational Safety & Health Administration (OSHA) Training Institute Education Center (OTIEC). Through managing the Georgia Tech relationship with OSHA, this position maintains training oversight for 3,000+ students in Georgia Tech Professional Education (P.E.) Courses. Annually, this position performs business development for 28 Georgia Tech P.E. courses through teaching, curriculum design, and recruitment of qualified instructors. 

Major Responsibilities:

  • Serve as program course instructor and student adviser for Georgia Tech Occupational Safety & Health Administration (OSHA) Training Institute Education Center (OTIEC)
  • Actively improve/update curriculum design for Georgia Tech OSHA OTIEC courses
  • Develop, maintain, and continually improve programmatic logistics for Georgia Tech OSHA OTIEC
  • Supervise and evaluate performance of OSHA OTIEC program support staff  
  • Manage and cultivate current and new relationships with Georgia Tech OSHA OTIEC program instructors
  • Oversee overall Georgia Tech OSHA OTIEC program market outreach and business development
  • Other duties as assigned

Basic Qualifications:

  • Education: MS degree in Occupational Safety and Health, Engineering, Public Health, or related field. 
  • Work Experience: 7-9 years job-related experience (or equivalent combination of education and work experience).
  • Skills: This job requires knowledge and skills in program/project management, written and oral communication, teaching and training, preparing and presenting data, and positive relationship building. Successful applicant will demonstrate strong working knowledge of occupational safety and health regulations and assessment tools. Incumbent in this role must demonstrate an aptitude for reporting measurable outcomes through metric systems required by federal, state, municipal, and/or private sponsors. 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Preferred Education: Doctoral degree in Occupational Safety and Health, Engineering, Public Health, or related field.   
  • Preferred Work Experience: 10-15 years job-related work experience.
  • Preferred Skills: Advanced skills in use of specialty software/databases.
  • Preferred applicant backgrounds include: Experience in consultative and teaching service delivery and/or prior experience working in a higher education and/or economic development environment.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: Specifically, this position serves in the Enterprise Innovation (EI2) Safety, Health, & Environmental Services (SHES) division of Georgia Tech. The Georgia Tech (OSHA) Training Institute Education Center (OTIEC) offers safety and health courses in more than 20 topics throughout a specified region including Florida, Georgia, Alabama, South Carolina, North Carolina, Mississippi, Tennessee, and Kentucky.
